At DAS Protection, we specialise in delivering high-quality, tailored home security solutions across Lancashire. In this project, we were called to a large detached home in Hesketh Bank following an attempted break-in. Here's how we upgraded the homeowner's alarm system to offer comprehensive protection, convenience, and long-term peace of mind.
After a troubling attempted burglary where intruders gained partial access through the conservatory, the homeowner contacted us urgently. The primary motive for the break-in appeared to be car key theft for a high-value vehicle parked on the driveway. Our team quickly responded with a free, no-obligation site survey and comprehensive quotation. The customer was particularly concerned about reinforcing vulnerable access points without damaging freshly decorated areas.

After carrying out a full site survey and discussing the customer’s needs, we recommended a hybrid smart alarm system tailored to their property. This setup offered the best of both worlds: it allowed us to retain the existing wired infrastructure to reduce installation time and cost, while also incorporating modern wireless components where needed to enhance coverage and flexibility.
To secure the most vulnerable entry points—the back door and conservatory—we installed wireless door contact sensors. These were selected not only for their reliability but also for their non-invasive design, helping to preserve the property's recently redecorated interiors.
The system was further enhanced with the addition of a smart internet communication unit, complete with GSM backup. This dual-channel setup ensures alarm signals are still transmitted even if the internet connection is lost, providing uninterrupted security monitoring at all times.
We also made several upgrades to the system hardware to improve ease of use and deterrence:
With smartphone integration, the customer can now control their system from anywhere in the world—arming, disarming, and receiving instant notifications directly to their device. This provides peace of mind whether they’re at home or away.
The entire installation was completed cleanly and efficiently, with no damage to the property. After a detailed demonstration, the customer felt reassured and confident in using their new system, knowing it could easily be expanded in the future with additional features like window shock sensors, fire alarms, or car protection modules.
If you’ve experienced a recent security scare or just want to upgrade your current system, we’re here to help. DAS Protection delivers responsive, professional service and customised smart security systems across Hesketh Bank, Tarleton, Longton, and the wider Preston area.
